Introduction

Welcome to everybody on the webside of the Polish Research Programme Preparation, Perfection and Application of Highly Specialized Immunodiagnostic Procedures in Immunological Diseases, cocommisioned by the Ministry of Science and High Education (PBZ-KBN-119/P05/2005). The aim of this project is to provide straight forward information to general practitioner (GP) what immunodiagnostic test should be performed in a particular disease and what laboratory is able to carry it out at the highest technical level and in accordance with a Good Laboratory Practice. He also would like to know, where such laboratory is located, what is the cost of given test, etc.

Diagnosticians, laboratory workers involved in the realisation of such tests will find default procedures and standards for particular assays, on the website.

The latter will also serve as a platform for exchange of information and ideas of people involved in immunodiagnostic work, including such items as infrastructure of laboratories, quality control, training courses, co-operation with commercial companies, troubleshooting in performing tests, etc. Polish laboratories are obliged to conform to international standards of diagnostic laboratory procedures to the end 2009. Thus, the time is short and we hope that this project and the website will help to reach these goals. Moreover, it should allow to facilitate cooperation in the field at international level.
